Andy Schachat has been the sports director of WTSN, delivering sports reports on the Morning Information Center, broadcasting live UNH and High School sports events, and hosting various sports talk shows.
Andy got his start in sportscasting when he was a student at UNH and joined WTSN in 1998. Other broadcasting experience in the Seacoast includes a three year stint as football play by play announcer for Exeter and Spaulding High Schools. Since joining WTSN Andy has won NHAB and AP awards for play by play, sports features, sports casts, and sports talk show.
In addition to his duties at WTSN Andy has become the most prolific Road Race announcer in the region and is an expert on the N.H. running scene. Each week, from April through November, Andy writes a column on running and road races for Foster's Sunday Citizen.
Born in N.H. Andy grew up in New Jersey. He admits that he grew up as a New York Yankees fan but saw the light when he was a young man!! Andy is now a full fledged New England sports fan, rooting for the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and Bruins. Andy is also an avid NASCAR fan and can talk auto racing with the best of them.
Andy is a proud father of daughter, Rachel, and a proud grandfather of grandson, Seamus.
