Annual EEO Public File Report

 

The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule.  This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following station(s):  WTSN-AM, Dover, NH and WBYY-FM, Somersworth, NH and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning 11/27/06 to and including 11/30/07.

The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

1.                  A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;

2.                  For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;

3.                  The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

4.                  Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

5.                  A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

Appendices 1, 2 and 3 which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information.  Please note that the numbers listed on Appendix 2 under the column entitled “Full-time Positions for Which This Source Was Utilized” refer to the number of the full-time job positions listed on Appendix 1.

For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended but when the hiree accepted the job offer.  A person was deemed “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person and/or over the telephone.

Section 3:  Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by WTSN-AM/WBYY-FM.

 

[Description of the activities.]

 

1.      Type of Activity:  NHAB Scholarship Program

2.      Date of Activity:  2/13/07-4/5/07

3.      Participating Employees:  Carole Lanctot, Business Manager/Rick Bean, General Manager.

4.      Brief Description:  NHAB sponsors a statewide station/association funded scholarship program.  The student Broadcaster Scholarship Program awards 4 qualified students with a $2250.00 scholarship toward pursuing a degree in over-the-air broadcasting.  WTSN-AM and WBYY-FM donated $450.00 towards the scholarship program.  Both stations helped promote the program with recorded commercials which ran during the period of 2/13/07-4/05/076 on WTSN-AM and WBYY-fm.  Carole and Rick were also involved in evaluating the students’ applications and were involved in processing and choosing the top qualifying students.  As requested we forwarded our list to NHAB of our choice of top 10 candidates.

 

 

1.      Type of Activity:  NHAB Job Bank

2.      Date of Activity:  11/27/06-ongoing

3.      Brief Description:  WTSN-AM and WBYY-FM are running over the air 30 second commercials and 60 second commercials promoting the NHAB Website, www.nhab.org to help educate listeners to their job bank, career information and internship contacts for broadcasting opportunities.  It also encourages students to apply for the NHAB scholarship program.

2.      Date of Activity:  10/18/07

3.      Participating Employees:  D Ellis, Sales Manager

4.      Brief Description:  On October 18, 2007 NHAB hosted a Career Expo and Job Fair.  D Ellis (General Sales Manager) for WTSN-AM and WBYY-FM represented the station at this event.  Prior to the job fair WTSN-AM and WBYY-FM ran a commercial schedule from 10/3/07 -10/17/07 promoting the event.  WTSN-AM ran a total of 45 commercials and WBYY-FM ran a total of 43 commercials.

 

 

 

1.      Type of Activity:  Focus on FCC:  An EEO Session

2.      Date of Activity:  10/19/07

3.      Participating Employees:  Carole Lanctot, Business Manager/Rick Bean, General Manger.

4.      Brief Description:  On October 19, 2007 the NHAB Hosted a seminar called “focus on FCC:  An EEO Seminar” presented by attorney Scott Flick of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.  The seminar was attended by Rick Bean, General Manager and Carole Lanctot, Business Manager.  The legal guide to EEO for 2007 was reviewed along with a timeline of important dates in reference to EEO.  The guide details the rules and policies for broadcasters to follow.
